Barney has been qualified as a commercial real estate lawyer for over thirty years and has wide ranging experience.
This includes all aspects of property development, including associated construction issues, property investment and commercial real estate.
He has a loyal client base and is lauded by his clients and legal directories where he is ranked as a leader in his field. Clients include national and local developers undertaking a wide range of retail, office, industrial, town centre redevelopments and regeneration schemes.
Barney trained and qualified at Powell & Young, Pocklington and then moved in-house to Asda Stores Limited. He joined London law firm McGuinness Finch in 1989 and subsequently established the Leeds office of that practice and over the next decade helped the firm to develop into one of the best-known niche property firms in the country. Barney has been based in the North East for the last ten years and joined Square One Law from Watson Burton LLP.
He is considered by his clients to bring a commercial approach to the table, working with them and the other side to achieve the required result both swiftly and efficiently.
