Ashraf Ali is a partner in the corporate team and has a wealth of experience of dealing with a wide range of corporate matters.
He has particular expertise in advising on the acquisition and disposal of owner managed businesses and small and medium-sized businesses in a variety of industry sectors, including healthcare, IT and engineering.
Ashraf joined Square One Law in March 2014 from the Manchester office of London-based law firm, Laytons.
Ashraf was part of the Square One Law team that advised the Turnbull family on the disposal of GT Group Limited to Knorr Bremse, one of the world’s largest manufacturer of braking systems.
He advised the shareholders of Sunderland based Fred Williamson & Sons on the sale of their shares to C Brewer & Sons, as part of the strategic expansion of the Brewer brand into the North East market place.
Ashraf was also part of the team that advised the directors of Norchem Limited on the disposal of the company to Lexon which created the largest independent wholesaler of drugs to independent pharmacies.
Most recently he has advised the shareholders of The Punjab Kitchen, a family business in the north of England specialising in the manufacturing of texture modified ready meals on the sale of their shares to Bidfood, a South African listed food manufacturing and distribution business.
Ashraf also has expertise in venture capital investments and has acted for leading debt and equity gap fund managers on their venture capital investments in the North West of England as part of the £184m North West Fund. He has also acted for investee companies of the North East JEREMIE 1 and JEREMIE 2 investment funds, advising portfolio companies on the terms of the investments.
