Michael is an established property lawyer with a diverse portfolio of experience including sales and acquisitions, landlord and tenant matters, easements, options and secured lending.
He has acted for UK and overseas businesses across a number of sectors, insolvency practitioners, healthcare providers, as well as owners of private estates.
He provides senior property-related support on a range of corporate deals (share, asset and investment) and is well-versed in negotiating the property aspects of corporate documentation and working collaboratively on project teams to ensure that clients benefit from the smooth and successful running of large-scale and complex cross-discipline transactions.
Michael specialises in property finance law. He has acted for a number of banks in the taking of security over land and property held by companies, partnerships and individuals, including the provision by banks of multi-million pound development funding.
He was named in Chambers & Partners 2015 in the Banking and Finance section for Newcastle and Surrounds as being ‘lauded for his expertise in property finance’ and ‘continues to establish himself as a notable presence in the local market’.
Michael was previously with Watson Burton LLP for 13 years. He joined Square One Law in November 2014.
