Jean-Pierre is head of the employment team at Square One Law. He is dual qualified in the UK and in South Africa and has been recognised by Chambers as a leading individual in his field.
Jean-Pierre’s personal approach and tenacity has won him favour from fellow lawyers and clients ranging from senior executives and owner managed businesses to global giants such as Piramal Group and Esso Petroleum Company Ltd.
Jean-Pierre deals with both contentious and non-contentious matters.
On the contentious side, his experience includes resisting claims of unfair and wrongful dismissal, dealing with boardroom disputes and claims of discrimination on the grounds of race, sex and disability.
Jean Pierre’s non-contentious experience includes dealing with the application of TUPE on service provision changes following mergers and acquisitions in the usual course of business and from administrators.
He has brought and defended appeals in the Employment Appeal Tribunal; prosecutions by the HSE (regarding multiple alleged breaches of the Working Time Regulations) and a significant £3 million status enquiry by HMRC.
Jean-Pierre has recently assisted a number of clients in the pharmaceutical and engineering sectors to engage staff and establish footholds abroad. The firm’s experience of dealing with the full range of employment issues that arise both domestically and internationally have led Square One Law to be appointed to manage the employment needs of a multinational pharmaceutical company on all jurisdictions aside from India.
Jean-Pierre is a non executive director of Northern Stage.
