Square One Law welcomes new commercial property specialist

Newcastle law firm, Square One Law has attracted another vastly experienced lawyer to its commercial property team.

Peter Clegg, who joins the team as a senior associate, is experienced in all aspects of commercial property work from developments, investments and estate management to advising on the property aspects of corporate transactions and re-financings joined the team as a senior associate in May 2013.

Peter trained at City law firm Lawrence Graham and qualified into their commercial property department in 2004. He later decided to move back to the North East and joined Ward Hadaway’s Newcastle office before moving onto Muckle LLP, where he was promoted to senior associate in March 2011.

Senior partner, Ian Gilthorpe, said: “Peter is a skilled lawyer, with much experience in advising developer clients on land acquisitions, options and pre-emptions, site assembly, development agreements and lettings to tenants.

“He has great experience in advising investor clients on the acquisition, management and disposal of their commercial property assets. He also advises corporate occupiers on lettings, assignments, underlettings and lease surrenders”.

Peter said: “I chose to join Square One Law as it is a growing, entrepreneurial firm that focuses on understanding its client’s needs and providing great client service.  I have been tracking the firms development for a while and the opportunity to work at such a dynamic firm and be involved in its future growth very much appeals to me.”

Outside of work, Peter has been a director of Keyfund since 2007. Keyfund is a charity that works with teenagers and young adults helping them to develop the skills and confidence needed to move forward in life.
