Square One Law celebrates second Insider Dealmakers Corporate Law Firm of the Year win

Last night saw a record turnout of over 400 of the North East’s top corporate finance professionals who gathered at the Gosforth Marriott Hotel to celebrate the very best in the region’s deal making community at the Insider North East Dealmakers Awards.

We are absolutely delighted that Square One Law was named Corporate Law Firm of the Year for a second year running.

Following our success last year, we were really pleased to be have been shortlisted for four awards; Corporate Law Firm of the Year, Corporate Lawyer of the Year: Mark Lazenby, Deal of the Year: Acquisition of t-mac Technologies by Utilitywise plc and Deal of the Year: Sale of Norchem to Lexon, and to win really does feel like a huge achievement for the team.

Head of the corporate team, partner James Bryce said: “Square One Law is about to celebrate its fourth anniversary and to be recognised by our peers is a great boost for the team. Winning Corporate Law Firm of the Year twice in a row is testament to the support of our clients, many of whom have been with us since we started, and our partners in the business community. Thank you to everyone that voted.

“This year the awards introduced a new category, Entrepreneur of the Year. The shortlisted finalists named three of our clients, including the overall winner, Paul Stonebanks of AIS Training.

“Congratulations to all of those that won or were shortlisted for the awards. Last night highlighted the strength of the region and the extent of deal making activity on the North East.”

Philip Cunliffe, regional business editor at Insider, added: “This has been another excellent year for the North East’s corporate finance advisory community which has once again proved that businesses in the region have some of the best professionals around.

“Confidence is returning to the North East and that would not be possible without the hard work and expertise of everyone there last night. These firms ensure that businesses can grow and thrive, and go on to create the wealth needed to restore the regional and UK economies.”
