Mark, who was formerly at Watson Burton, is a transactional lawyer who has strong client relationship skills with a specialism in corporate finance and banking. He regularly advises clients across a variety of business sectors, such as motor, retail, leisure, energy and technology sectors.

Jeremy Swift, head of Square One Law’s company commercial team said,” We’re delighted Mark has chosen to join the firm. This continues our strategy of recruiting experienced partners with established track records, extensive contacts and networks and who are looking for a fresh and exciting challenge.

“Acting for high growth companies and entrepreneurs are key areas of our work and Mark’s skill set will further strengthen our experienced team which now has a leadership team of 4 partners and 3 senior associates.”

Alan Fletcher, managing partner, commented,” The corporate team is already well established as a significant force in the North East legal marketplace. It is performing well even though it is a challenging marketplace at the moment. Transactions are a key area of our business and recent projects have included the reverse takeover of the AIM listed Zenergy Power plc by Leicester based Synety; the acquisition by Esh Group of Scottish based environmental consultants, Remedios Ltd and acquisitions by Applied Superconductor in the USA and Australia. Square One Law also acted for former executives of Carillion Energy Services’ (formerly Eaga) environmental services business on the acquisition of North East energy specialists KNW Limited.

“We have focussed on creating long term relationships with clients – a good example of this is Atlantic Global plc. I have worked with them since 2001 and we recently helped them sell the AIM listed business to US based KeyedIn Solutions and we are now acting for KeyedIn Solutions in their acquisition programme.”

Mark Lazenby said, “Square One Law is a really energizing and enjoyable environment in which to work. The whole team is focused on working together to achieve the best possible results for clients”.
