Public Law and Public Sector Disputes

Many businesses have ongoing relationships and, on occasions, disputes with public bodies which can impact on their future prospects.

We have acted in a wide variety of judicial review cases both for and against public bodies such as local authorities, central government departments and NHS Trusts. Some of these cases included advice on the statutory position of the relevant public body and an interpretation of their powers.

We have successfully resolved a number of cases in the pre-action stage so that judicial review proceedings were not commenced and have also acted in a number of public law disputes to a full judicial hearing.

Examples of the types of public law and public sector disputes we can assist you with include:

  • commercial judicial review
  • procurement disputes, including procurement related judicial review
  • vires and governance
  • interpretation of the statutory powers of public bodies
  • information governance and freedom of information challenges
  • PFI related disputes
