Square One Law supports local youth charity, Headliners UK

Square One Law’s business development partner Neil Warwick has recently been involved in a project with Headliners UK, a charity which inspires and encourages the personal development of young people through journalism as part of the National Citizens Service initiative.

Young people are trained to research and produce stories on issues important to them for publication and broadcast in national and local newspapers, magazines, television, radio and online.

The group is currently raising money for a sensory room. They hope to use the room themselves and by raising awareness through their fundraising, they aim to break down the stereotypes surrounding autism.

The group said:

“We are a group of young people in South Tyneside who are all on the autistic spectrum. As part of our NCS Headliners project we have the opportunity to campaign to make a difference in our own community.

The real problems we face day-to-day are both a lack of understanding about autism and a place to go to unwind. Our goal is to create a sensory room, as there is currently not one available to use in the area. It will be a safe place to go to when we need time out.

We are also creating a short film about our lives to create understanding about the condition. We are passionate about this project as we think it makes sense.
