Strategic partnership enhances technology-led training solutions for the energy sector

AIS Training, the North Shields headquartered training provider, has praised the support it received from Square One Law in a deal to secure investment from London-based private equity firm Blue Water Energy.

The Newcastle-based commercial law firm advised the shareholders of AIS during the investment, which created the 3T Energy Group, and has previously advised AIS on a full range of commercial matters including acquisitions.

The 3T Energy Group brings together AIS Training and oil field training simulation technology provider Drilling Systems and has created a unique technology-focussed organisation.  With strong synergies in their markets, the companies within the group are able to offer technology-led solutions to clients, which is transforming the energy training sector.

Paul Stonebanks OBE from AIS Training said “This project has led to the creation of a strong group of companies with synergies in sharing expertise, best practice and commercial opportunities. I cannot speak too highly of the team at Square One Law who played a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the transaction. They were always supportive and their experience in the private equity investment market, particularly with businesses in industries such as energy and chemicals was a real advantage.”

John Hammill, corporate partner at Square One Law, said: “This deal has been transformational for AIS and it is great to see the business flourishing as part of the 3T Energy Group. The investment in AIS is important to the North East as it highlights the strong industrial training provision the region has to offer, which has the potential to support future job creation and skills development across the energy sector as AIS and the wider 3T Energy Group continues to prosper.”
