Square One Law secures Times correction for client

A SENIOR partner at Square One Law speedily secured a retraction and apology from a Government quango and a correction from a national newspaper after a client was defamed in print and on-line.

Michael Leather, of Newcastle-based accountants and business advisers Leathers LLP, successfully turned to Robin Winskell at Square One Law after an inaccurate article appeared in The Times.

The article, based on a release from the Pensions Regulator, stemmed from its ruling which criticised the failings of the trustees of the Hugh Mackay Pension Retirement Benefits Scheme.

The release, which inaccurately claimed Leathers were the scheme’s auditors, was posted on the Pensions Regulator’s website, and repeated in an article in the Times newspaper.

Mr Leather said: “The swift and decisive action of Robin Winskell at Square One Law helped enormously in limiting the damage caused to my firm by the inaccurate publications.
