Chirton Engineering Ltd, a subcontractor of precision engineering components, particularly in the fields of offshore oil & gas manufacturing, was started by Paul Stewart just over 10 years ago in a 500sq ft unit with only four employees.
Since then it has established a global customer base, including IHC Merwede, Oceaneering, and Proserv Offshore and has recently expanded into component manufacturing for manufacturers including McLaren, as part of a strategy of collaborative innovation with its core customer base.
The 52-strong firm, based in North Shields, is now one of the leading Sub-Contract machine shops in the whole of the UK and the business now exports to China, Singapore, the US, France and Norway.
In what was a pretty tense period in my life, the team at Square One Law could not have worked harder on all aspects of the deal but also on a personal level to give me the reassurance that all was progressing on a positive footing.
